With panoramic terraces overlooking dreamy coves and elegant dining rooms housed in historic residences, these restaurants offer much more than just a meal: they provide unforgettable sensory experiences, where local tradition blends with contemporary creativity and the search for exceptional ingredients.
Here we have selected 5 Michelin-starred restaurants on the Amalfi Coast that you should try at least once in your lifetime.
Next2 – Positano

Opened in 2004 by Tanina Vanacore, Next2 is now run by her daughter Carmela, who carries on the family tradition with dedication and passion. Located just a few minutes’ walk from the Church of Santa Maria Assunta (one of Positano’s most famous landmarks), it is a modern restaurant with inviting décor and courteous, attentive service. Genuine, carefully selected ingredients are combined with simplicity to create dishes that follow the seasons and enhance the authentic flavours of the area, without sacrificing creativity and innovation in culinary techniques. The desserts are irresistible and the outdoor seating area with sea views in summer is wonderful. The excellent selection of wines and cocktail menu can also be enjoyed at the wine bar, for an aperitif or after dinner.
La Caravella dal 1959 – Amalfi

Opened in 1959 by Franco Dipino, La Caravella is not just a restaurant, but an institution. Suffice it to say that it was the first restaurant in southern Italy to be awarded a Michelin star (in 1969). Located in the heart of Amalfi’s historic centre, it is housed in the elegant 12th-century ducal palace of the Piccolomini, Dukes of Amalfi. At the helm today is Franco’s son, Antonio Dipino, who worked in the kitchens of leading Italian and foreign restaurants before returning to Italy in the 1990s to take over the family restaurant. He offers cuisine that is proudly rooted in local and family traditions, always seeking new and imaginative solutions. You can expect great dishes prepared using only the highest quality ingredients. The wine cellar is no less impressive, boasting many top-level labels.
A’ Paranza – Atrani

Nestled in the narrow streets of the small village of Atrani, a former slaughterhouse houses the A’ Paranza restaurant, run by the Proto family for over forty years. Featuring an intimate, typically seaside atmosphere, it offers Campania and Mediterranean cuisine. Everything here is truly simple, welcoming and informal (ordering is almost always done verbally, without a menu). Homemade pasta dishes, soups, and grilled fish (based on the daily catch) are prepared without too much innovation, remaining faithful to tradition. The simplicity of flavors is the hallmark: no unnecessary condiments, just the quality of the ingredients speaking for themselves. The wine selection is superb, featuring all the major Italian labels, organized by region and expertly recommended based on the chosen pairing.
Trattoria da Lorenzo – Scala

Tucked away in the quiet village of Scala (the oldest town on the Amalfi Coast), Trattoria da Lorenzo is an authentic family-run trattoria serving traditional Campania and seafood dishes. Here, you’ll find only the freshest and seasonal ingredients, sourced daily from trusted fishermen by Lorenzo, the head of the family, before handing them over to the expert hands of chefs Annamaria and Gerardo. But what makes this place special is the homey feel, the relaxing atmosphere that only a friendly place can convey. For your main course, we recommend sampling the freshly caught fish cart, followed by a seat on the stunning panoramic terrace, where you can enjoy a magnificent view of Ravello.
Al Convento – Cetara

Finally, you absolutely must visit Al Convento restaurant. Located in the heart of Cetara, it takes its name from the former convent that houses its dining rooms. Handcrafted furnishings, designer details, and marine-inspired colors create refined spaces that evoke the village’s soul. All this is designed to enhance the frescoed vaults, now embellished with brass and mirrors. Behind every course lies the creativity and mastery of the entire kitchen team, expertly led by chefs Pasquale and Gaetano Torrente. The menu celebrates local seafood, but meat dishes are also available. Among the standout ingredients are the ever-present anchovies (a typical product of Cetara), presented in various interpretations. The service is friendly, and the wine list is extensive and interesting.
