Two-day itinerary on the Amalfi Coast

Two days are not many – we know that well, and we certainly won’t try to hide it. The Amalfi Coast is one of those destinations that require time, that reveal themselves slowly, and that can truly be understood only by those willing to stop, return, and explore more deeply. However, with a well-planned itinerary, it is still possible to discover some of its most iconic locations while also experiencing its more authentic side.

This itinerary is designed to let you experience the Amalfi Coast in an intense yet balanced way. All destinations are less than thirty minutes away by car, allowing you to explore without stress and return every evening to our boutique hotel.

DAY 1

8:30 – 9:30 | Breakfast at Albadamare

To start the day in the best way, there is nothing better than a good breakfast in our panoramic garden overlooking the sea. If the weather is not ideal, you can enjoy it comfortably in our indoor breakfast room.

10:00 – 13:00 | Praiano

The morning of the first day is dedicated to discovering Praiano. Unlike the more famous and crowded towns, here you can still feel a relaxed and genuine atmosphere, made of quiet alleys, whitewashed houses climbing the rock, and breathtaking views that invite you to pause. In Praiano, it is wonderful to wander through the narrow streets, walk without a fixed destination, and let yourself be surprised step by step.

The Church of San Gennaro Vescovo e Martire is absolutely worth a visit, recognizable for its colorful oval dome decorated with majolica tiles in traditional Amalfi style. Inside, it preserves several artworks of notable artistic value. From the wide square in front of the church, you can enjoy a wonderful panoramic view over the surrounding coastline.

13:00 – 14:00 | Lunch in Praiano

After exploring Praiano, it is the right moment to enjoy local flavours. Among the many restaurants in the area, a pleasant option is La Strada. Located along Via Gennaro Capriglione, it combines simplicity and tradition with a charming view stretching over Positano and the Faraglioni of Capri.

14:30 – 15:30 | Fiordo di Furore

In the early afternoon, the itinerary continues towards the Fiordo di Furore, one of those places that strikes you at first sight. Despite its name, it is not a real fjord, but a spectacular inlet carved between two mountain slopes, looking like something out of a postcard. At sea level there is a small beach, framed by colorful houses and buildings that tell stories of ancient traditions linked to fishing and paper production.

The visit does not take long, but it is an unmissable stop to understand the extraordinary variety of landscapes of the Amalfi Coast.

16:00 – 20:00 | Positano

The next stop is Positano, one of the most enchanting destinations not only of the Amalfi Coast but of Italy as a whole. Its pastel-colored houses clinging to the cliff create a unique scenery that has attracted travelers from all over the world. Just a walk through its streets is enough to be completely enchanted. Wander among the scents of jasmine and lemon, artisan workshops, and fashion boutiques.

One of the symbols of Positano is the Church of Santa Maria Assunta, standing above the rooftops with its dome covered in yellow, green, and blue tiles. Step inside to admire its magnificent classical interior, enriched with valuable sacred artworks.

Before dinner, head down to Marina Grande beach for an aperitif with a sea view, one to remember.

20:00 – 21:30 | Dinner in Positano

The first day ends with a dinner based on fresh fish in one of the many restaurants in Positano. Recommended places include La Pergola, Chez Black, and Don Giovanni.

DAY 2

8:00 – 9:00 | Breakfast at Albadamare

The second day also begins with our breakfast.

9:30 – 13:00 | Amalfi

The morning of the second day is dedicated to Amalfi. The first Maritime Republic of Italy, it long dominated trade in the Tyrrhenian Sea. Traces of that glorious past remain in its extraordinary monuments and in an aura of grandeur that no other town on the Amalfi Coast can quite match.

The visit begins in Piazza Duomo, the beating heart of the town. Dominating the scene is the Cathedral of Sant’Andrea, with its scenic staircase and monumental polychrome façade. The complex consists of two once separate buildings: the cathedral, built starting in 987, and the ancient Basilica of the Crucifix. On the left side of the portico lies the Cloister of Paradise, while inside the Basilica of the Crucifix there is the Diocesan Museum.

After visiting the Cathedral, it is worth strolling through the historic centre to reach the Paper Museum. Housed in a 13th-century paper mill, it tells the story of one of Amalfi’s most important artisan traditions.

13:00 – 14:00 | Lunch in Amalfi

For lunch, take advantage of still being in Amalfi. In the side alleys not far from Piazza Duomo, you will find authentic trattorias serving traditional cuisine. Recommended options include Trattoria da Gemma and Trattoria San Giuseppe.

14:15 – 15:30 | Atrani

Just a few minutes’ walk from Amalfi, literally behind a rocky spur, lies Atrani, the only town on the Coast that has preserved its ancient character as a small fishing village intact. Thanks to the unique charm of its alleys, arches, courtyards, small squares, stairways, and tightly stacked houses, it has often been chosen as a film and advertising location.

To capture its essence, a stop in Piazza Umberto I is enough, the place where village life has unfolded for centuries. It hosts several cafés and restaurants that bring life to the square without compromising its authenticity. Facing it stands the Church of San Salvatore de’ Birecto, in its 18th-century form.

16:00 – 20:00 | Ravello

The final stop of the itinerary is Ravello, a village famous for its panoramic views and enchanted gardens, which over time has captivated artists such as Giovanni Boccaccio, Gore Vidal, Virginia Woolf, and Truman Capote.

The focal point of Ravello’s life is Piazza Duomo. With its welcoming cafés and lively souvenir shops, it invites visitors to linger and enjoy relaxed conversations. The square is dominated by the Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta and San Pantaleone, which houses relics, ancient legends, and a precious museum.

South of the Cathedral, a tower marks the entrance to Villa Rufolo, where art, history, and nature meet in a timeless spectacle. The most striking part of the villa is its garden, where countless plant and flower varieties blend with breathtaking sea views.

20:00 – 21:30 | Dinner in Ravello

End your itinerary at the table in Ravello, enjoying dinner at Ristorante Bella Vista sul Mare or Ristorante Salvatore.
