Luci d’Artista in Salerno, 2025-2026 edition

As is now tradition, during the Christmas season, Salerno is transformed into a magical place and lit up with a thousand colours thanks to Luci d’Artista, the spectacular open-air exhibition of luminous works of art installed in squares, parks and streets, which has made the city a landmark for Christmas celebrations in Campania (and beyond). The installations are not simply festive decorations, but authentic masterpieces created by internationally renowned contemporary artists, capable of bringing to life evocative fairy-tale scenarios of great aesthetic and symbolic value.

The exhibition is scheduled to run from Friday 14 November 2025 (with an opening ceremony at 5.30 pm at the Villa Comunale in Via Roma) to Sunday 1 February 2026. Every day, from 5 p.m. until late at night, the light installations come to life, transforming the city into an enchanting open-air museum that attracts visitors from all over, eager to immerse themselves in this unique experience. The effect is like a map that lights up in stages, where each neighbourhood becomes a stage and each glimpse tells a variation on the theme of light.

The evocative display of artistic illuminations, organised by the Municipality of Salerno with the support of the Campania Region, is enriched by shows, exhibitions and events that make the visit even more enjoyable.

In 2022, Elle Decor, the international magazine dedicated to design and trends, interior design and lifestyle, architecture and art, compiled a list of the 20 cities with the most beautiful Christmas lights in the world, and Salerno was among them. Here is what it says: “This small town of just over 100,000 inhabitants on the Amalfi Coast is one of the cities in the world with the best Christmas lights. Its secret? The Luci d’Artista festival, which has been held in the town since 2009 and brings together artists from all over the world with installations covering the entire city”. Read the article.
