The Night of the Lampare 2025 in Cetara

From 31 July to 2 August 2025 in Cetara, a small and charming fishing village about 25 kilometres from our boutique hotel, the 48th edition of the Night of the Lampare will be held. Organised by the municipality of Cetara and the Associazione Amici del Forum dei Giovani in collaboration with the Pro Loco Cetara-Costa D’Amalfi, the event celebrates the local seafaring culture and has as its main feature the possibility of witnessing a real anchovy fishing expedition from the ferries.

The suggestive anchovy fishing, scheduled for Saturday 2 August from 8 pm, is carried out with lampare, a type of lamp (very large and powerful) mounted on fishermen’s boats that serves to attract fish to the surface and then trap them in the net. In front of the enchanting night scenery of the Amalfi Coast and with the sea illuminated only by the light of the lampare, you will relive all the moments of this ancient and characteristic fishing. Meanwhile, on the Molo Madonnina, it will be possible to taste dishes based on anchovies and other specialities. The tasting menu (only available on 2 August) includes: Pinza alla “marinara” with sauce, oregano, and anchovies; Paccheri ripieni with ricotta, colatura di alici di Cetara D.o.p. (anchovies from Cetara), and alici puttanesca sauce; Frittura di alici; Polpetta di alici with stracciata di bufala and lemon zest; and Babà al limoncello. The fishing trip is preceded by two days of festivities with many events not to be missed.
