5 things to do in Praiano
Located exactly halfway between Amalfi and Positano, Praiano is one of the most authentic and charming villages on the Amalfi Coast. Less glamorous than nearby destinations, it preserves a relaxed atmosphere made of quiet alleys, terraces suspended between sky and sea, whitewashed houses climbing the cliffs, and sunsets that look like paintings. Here, time slows down, and every corner invites you to pause a little longer. Praiano is the ideal place for those who want to experience the coast in a more intimate and genuine way, without giving up postcard-worthy views and crystal-clear waters.
There are many things to do in Praiano, but we have selected 5 unmissable experiences that will make your stay even more special.
1. Walk the Path of the Gods

Among the most extraordinary experiences the Amalfi Coast has to offer, the Path of the Gods holds a place of honor. Considered one of the most beautiful hiking trails in the world, it runs along the cliffs above the sea, surrounded by the scents of Mediterranean scrub and breathtaking coastal views. The trail is about 8 km long and starts either from Agerola, more precisely from the hamlet of Bomerano, or from Praiano, ending in Nocelle, a small village of Positano set on the slopes of Monte Pertuso. The name is no coincidence, as walking it truly feels like stepping in mid-air, suspended between the cobalt blue sea and the green of the Lattari Mountains. Writer Italo Calvino described it as “that road suspended over the magical Gulf of the Sirens, still crossed today by memory and myth”.
2. Visit the Church of San Gennaro Vescovo e Martire

Located just a few steps from our boutique hotel, the Church of San Gennaro Vescovo e Martire is one of the most iconic landmarks of the village. Dedicated to the patron saint of Praiano, it was built between 1589 and 1602 on the foundations of an earlier church, although its current appearance is the result of an 18th-century renovation. Its most recognizable feature is the colorful dome decorated with traditional Amalfi Coast majolica tiles. Inside, it preserves a valuable artistic heritage: marble altars, Baroque stuccos, Vietri ceramics, and works of art that tell centuries of devotion and local life. The square in front is also one of those places where you can sit and look at the sea, breathe in the silence, and feel how time flows differently here.
3. Take part in a cooking class

While staying in Praiano, it quickly becomes clear how deeply food is part of the local culture. Taking part in a cooking class on the Amalfi Coast means truly connecting with local traditions, learning recipes passed down through generations, and using the finest seasonal ingredients of the coast. It is not just about cooking, but about enjoying a convivial experience filled with stories, flavors, and hospitality. It is a perfect activity for both couples and families who want to take home a different kind of memory. At the end of the class, sharing the lunch or dinner prepared together becomes one of the most enjoyable moments of the entire stay in Praiano.
4. Take a boat excursion along the coast

Boat excursions allow you to discover the Amalfi Coast from a completely different perspective, among dramatic cliffs, sea caves, and hidden coves that, in most cases, can only be reached by sea. During the cruise, you can admire the silhouettes of houses perched on the rock, lemon terraces, and the deep blue of the Mediterranean. Many visitors choose to enjoy this experience at sunset, when the sun slowly dips into the sea, creating breathtaking colors. It is a perfect moment to relax and be captivated by the magic of the Amalfi Coast. A boat trip is not just a simple tourist activity, but a way to truly connect with the slow rhythm of Praiano.
5. Watch the sunset from Cala della Gavitella

Among the most emotional moments to experience in Praiano is undoubtedly the sunset seen from Cala della Gavitella, a small paradise nestled between the cliffs. Thanks to its west-facing position overlooking Positano, Capri, and the Li Galli archipelago, this stunning natural cove is bathed in sunlight throughout the day and is the only place on the Amalfi Coast where the sun appears to dive directly into the sea, creating a breathtaking spectacle that leaves visitors speechless. Here you can enjoy an aperitif or simply pause to listen to the sound of the waves while the sky turns shades of orange and pink. It can be reached either by sea or via a scenic staircase of over 400 steps starting from Piazza San Gennaro.
