Amalfi Summer Fest 2024
In Amalfi, a summer of music, theatre, literature and art thanks to the new edition of the Amalfi Summer Fest. Among the stars of the kermis will be names of the calibre of Arisa, Simona Molinari, Paolo Belli with his Big Band, Ana Carla Maza, and Matthew Lee, to name but a few. The performances will touch extraordinary locations, from the Duomo to the most intimate and hidden corners of the city, up to the belvederes of the highest villages, offering a breathtaking spectacle.
THE PROGRAMME OF EVENTS IN AMALFI
The festival kicks off with Amalfi in Jazz every Friday at 10 pm in Piazza Duomo from 5 July with a concert by Simona Molinari. This will be followed on 12 July by the Motown Project Band with ‘Tribute to Stevie Wonder and Donny Hathaway’ featuring the voice of Oumy Ndiaye; on 19 July on stage Matthew Lee and Band; and on 26 July Ana Carla Maza (the last Amalfi in Jazz event).
On 25 July at 9 p.m. in Piazza Municipio, the review Scene d’aMare debuts with the show ‘Il canto del mare’ by and with the writer Maurizio de Giovanni. Together with him, actors Paolo Cresta and Rosaria De Cicco. Live music with Marco Zurzolo on sax, Carlo Fimiani on guitar and the voice of Marianita Carfora. Adapted and directed by Annamaria Russo.
On 2 August at 7 p.m. at Piazzale di Lone, the great tradition of the Sunset Concert at sunset is revived, with the voice of Lucy Kiely and Cherubino Fariello on guitar, illuminated only by the colours of the sun falling over the sea of the Amalfi Coast.
In August, the squares are transformed into one big moonlit dancehall. It starts on Friday 9 August at 9.30 p.m., in Piazza Municipio in Amalfi, with 24k Magic Tribute Band with ‘Bruno Mars Tribute’, a tribute to the famous international pop funk artist. Live music, choreography and special effects for a unique and unmissable show.
On 12 August in Piazza Duomo, at 7.30 pm, another novelty of the 2024 edition of Amalfi Summer Fest, 45 Giri d’Italia. The best masterpieces of Italian music rigorously selected on 45 rpm vinyl, to rediscover the melodies that have marked the musical history of Italy. An experience of listening and musical dialogue, dedicated to lovers of good music.
On 14 August 2024 at 10 p.m., great expectations in Piazza Duomo in Amalfi for an unfailing presence in the Amalfi summer, Frankie & Canthina Band, who for over 25 years have been making squares and clubs throughout Italy and abroad dance, leaving Earth Wind and Fire and Kool and The Gang on the stage every night.
Another unmissable appointment on Friday 23 August at 10 p.m. in Piazza Duomo with Paolo Belli and his Big Band. His greatest hits will be on the setlist, alternating with some tributes to the masters who have influenced his career from the beginning, such as Carosone, Jannacci and Conte.
On Thursday 29 August, from the creators of Nostalgia ‘90 comes Febbre Italiana, the disco night in Piazza Municipio (start at 22.30). A new travelling live show totally dedicated to Italian music that will make the audience dance and sing along, retracing the great hits from the history of Italian music with a DJ set that will propose all the most famous songs remixed in a dance key.
Grand finale, from 31 August to 2 September, with the Byzantine New Year, a historical-cultural event that evokes the beginning of the fiscal and legal year in the era of the Eastern Empire, of which Amalfi was a peripheral autonomy. The programme includes historical events and an exclusive concert by Arisa in Piazza Duomo on 2 September at 9 pm.
