Nearly a century of Vietri ceramics on display in Vietri sul Mare
In Vietri sul Mare, history is deeply intertwined with the art of ceramics, a tradition that has continuously evolved over time without losing its connection to the local territory. Bright colors, Mediterranean motifs, and a strong artisanal component define a production that has spanned different eras and styles, absorbing diverse influences and transforming them into a unique visual language. From historic workshops to contemporary experimentation, Vietri ceramics continue to be not only decorative objects, but a visual narrative in which culture, memory, and creativity intertwine.
Within this long continuity between tradition and innovation comes “Tracce di un viaggio”, an exhibition dedicated to the ceramic artistic heritage of the Municipality of Vietri sul Mare. The exhibition will run from April 24 to May 18, 2026, at the new Museo della Ceramica Contemporanea (MCC) in Vietri, inaugurated on December 4, 2025 inside Palazzo Punzi (located on Corso Umberto I). It features a collection of over sixty works spanning nearly a century, from the first half of the 20th century to the present day. This heterogeneous selection of works traces the evolution of Vietri ceramics through forms, languages, and artistic gestures capable of leaving a lasting mark, narrating the territory in its most authentic dimension.
The exhibition path brings into dialogue works from the various editions of the “Viaggio attraverso la Ceramica” competition with those that have become part of the municipal collection through donations, acquisitions, and loan agreements. Each piece is a trace: the sign of an encounter, a passage, a gaze that has left an imprint on the cultural history of Vietri sul Mare. Curated by Rita Raimondi, the exhibition offers the community a living and ever-evolving heritage, capable of crossing generations and reaffirming the power of ceramics as matter transformed into art.
The opening is scheduled for Friday, April 24 at 6:30 PM.
