The wineries of the Amalfi Coast
The Amalfi Coast is famous the world over for its spectacular views, villages suspended between sea and sky, and a culinary tradition that wins over every visitor. Among its many treasures is also an extraordinary viticulture, known as “heroic” because it is practised under extreme morphological conditions, on narrow terraces perched high above the sea, where the use of machinery is impossible and every operation is carried out by hand.
Visiting the local wineries means living an authentic experience, made of scents, flavours, age-old traditions and breathtaking landscapes. A tasting becomes a special opportunity to discover the deepest soul of this territory through its wines and the passionate work of producers who safeguard an agricultural heritage of great value.
Let’s discover together the main wineries of the Amalfi Coast.
Cantine Marisa Cuomo

It was 1980 when Andrea Ferraioli gave his wife-to-be the small vineyards he had inherited from his father as a wedding gift. From this gesture of love, Cantine Marisa Cuomo was born, in the town of Furore, one of Italy’s most beautiful villages. Set within an extraordinary landscape, the estate covers ten hectares among dolomitic-limestone rock and terraces at 500 metres above sea level, benefiting from exceptional sun exposure and the iodine-rich sea air of the Amalfi Coast. The utmost respect for tradition in the vineyard is matched by the utmost modernity in the cellar. Among the flagship labels are Fiorduva, a white wine slowly fermented at low temperature, and Furore Rosso Riserva, aged for 12 months in French barriques. Guided tours and tastings paired with local dishes are available by appointment.
Casa Vinicola Ettore Sammarco

With over sixty years of activity, the Sammarco family’s winery stands as a historic presence in the winemaking landscape of the Amalfi Coast. Founded in 1962 by Ettore, it is now run by his son Bartolo, who still works under his father’s watchful guidance. The vineyards spread across the hills surrounding Ravello, where an unrivalled combination of soil and climate allows the cultivation of prized grapes for DOC wine production. The winery’s flagship label is the DOC Costa d’Amalfi Ravello Bianco Vigna Grotta Piana. Besides wine, the estate also produces grappas and liqueurs. A visit to the cellar offers a close look at the Sammarco family’s history, a stroll through the vineyards, and the chance to taste wines that capture the true identity of the Amalfi Coast.
Cantine Apicella

Cantine Apicella, in Tramonti, is a place that speaks of wine, but even more of family. Founded in 1977 by Giuseppe, the winery has grown under the guidance of his son Prisco, continuing a winemaking tradition handed down from earlier generations. The viticulture retains a deeply artisanal character, with manual work and particular attention to environmental sustainability. The vineyards cover around seven hectares and are grown using the traditional pergola system at an altitude of between 300 and 600 metres above sea level. The resulting wines show great freshness, minerality and a distinctive personality, qualities shaped by the altitude of the vineyards and the influence of the nearby sea. The winery offers guided tours and tastings paired with local specialities.
Tenuta San Francesco

Also in Tramonti is Tenuta San Francesco, an agricultural estate founded in 2004 by Gaetano and Generoso Bove, Vincenzo D’Avino and Luigi Giordano with the aim of honouring the area’s long winemaking history and that of their own families. The cellar is housed in an 18th-century farmhouse and benefits from the expertise of the renowned oenologist Carmine Valentino, from Irpinia. The ten hectares of high-density vineyards stretch between 200 and 600 metres above sea level, on steeply terraced land. The estate produces wines of great character, expressing the territory through intense aromas, structure and a pronounced mineral note. Wine tours, wine tastings, cooking classes and private visits are available strictly by appointment.
Le Vigne di Raito

Surrounded by Mediterranean scrubland among lemon groves and centuries-old olive trees, Le Vigne di Raito is a small winery founded in 2001 by Patrizia Malanga, perfectly embodying the bond between wine and territory. The two hectares of vineyard lie on the hills of Raito, a hamlet of Vietri sul Mare, in a privileged position that benefits from the sea’s influence and temperature variations. The estate produces wine in limited quantities, favouring an artisanal and environmentally respectful approach. Every bottle results from a careful selection of grapes and reflects a terroir rich in Mediterranean aromas, herbs and minerality. It offers guided tours, tastings paired with local delicacies, vineyard picnics and cooking classes.
