Maiori Nativity Scene Art Exhibition 2024-2025 edition

Among the events to mark in your diary to fully experience the magic of Christmas on the Amalfi Coast is undoubtedly the Maiori Nativity Scene Art Exhibition. Now in its eleventh edition, it is scheduled from 7 December 2024 to 6 January 2025.

The works skilfully created by the members of the Associazione Presepiale Città di Maiori are exhibited in the Church of San Francesco, which in itself is worth a visit. Destroyed several times over time, in the 16th century it was rebuilt and completed on the site where it still stands today. Despite its Renaissance origins, it currently presents a late Rococo style due to various interventions between the 18th and 20th centuries. The interior features a wooden choir decorated by the school of Andrea Sabatino, a 16th-century altar and paintings of the Coronation of the Virgin with Saints Anthony and Bernardino by Giovanni da Gaeta, the Deposition by Andrea Sabatino, the Ascension by D’Errico and the Calvary by the Flemish school.

The association, founded in May 2011, has more than 20 members including exhibiting members (set designers, painters, mosaicists and modellers), ordinary members and founding members. Exhibiting their creations are not only members of the association but also guests from various parts of Campania.
