Where to eat ice cream on the Amalfi Coast

When good weather arrives and temperatures rise, it is always the right time for a good ice cream: after a walk for a refreshing break, as a snack, after lunch and dinner, and sometimes even as a real meal replacement. On the other hand, ice cream is one of the most loved foods globally and at any age, by adults and children alike. But do you know where to eat the best ice cream on the Amalfi Coast? Here are some addresses to mark in your diary for your next trip.

Pastry shop Savoia

Pastry shop Savoia is a true institution on the Amalfi Coast. Located very close to Amalfi Cathedral, it was founded back in 1918 by the Amatruda family, who still run it today. Here the passion for ice cream was born together with that for sweets. The ice creams, today as then, are prepared using only the freshest and highest quality products such as Sicilian pistachios from Bronte, pure hazelnuts or the best cocoa. In addition to the great classics (lemon, Sorrento walnuts, black cherry variegate, Sicilian cassata, etc.), it also offers exclusive flavours such as Savoia (with almond with crunchy, chocolate and macaroon variegate) and Cubana (with Zacapa rum chocolate, variegated with hazelnut crunch).

Chocolate and Ice Cream Andrea Pansa

Also in the heart of Amalfi, not far from the historic and famous pastry shop of the same name (founded in 1830), is the Andrea Pansa Chocolate and Ice Cream boutique. Here, like jewels, bars, chocolates and ice creams dominate the shop window, displayed in style and accompanied by jazz music. The ice creams are prepared using only the finest ingredients such as the Nobile dell’Appenino Campano, Molisano and Lucano milk, IGP lemons from the family’s Villa Paradiso farm, Bronte DOP pistachio and Giffoni IGP hazelnut. Try the Nonna Adriana’s cream (a fitting cameo to the beloved maternal grandmother), made with real custard.

Baffone Artisan Ice Cream Shop

Among the addresses not to be missed is definitely Baffone Gelateria Artigianale. It is located in Ravello, a stone’s throw from Piazza Duomo, and is run by young siblings Ugo and Valentina D’Angelo. The original name ‘Baffone’ is a tribute to their grandfather, known by this nickname for his characteristic moustache. Here, everything is made on site using fresh, first-rate products. In addition to the classics, it also offers more unusual flavours such as Tropical Crispy (coconut and pineapple variegated with crispy white chocolate, coconut and mango pieces), Crunchy Caramel (salted caramel variegated with caramel cream, almonds and peanuts) and Ricotta Stregata (ricotta variegated with Strega liqueur cream and sponge cake pieces).

Buca di Bacco

Another must for ice-cream lovers is the Buca di Bacco ice-cream parlour. It is located by the sea in Positano and is very popular with locals and tourists alike. The official website reads: ‘Buca di Bacco is the place to eat the best ice cream in Positano‘. Their secret? The ice creams are made with carefully selected fresh ingredients and genuine passion, for a unique experience that delights the palate in every bite. They offer a vast assortment of flavours, from the simplest to the most refined. In addition to ice cream, it also satisfies the sweet tooth with filled crêpes, irresistible waffles and much more.

Collina Positano Bakery

Also not to be missed is the ice cream from the pastry-café-gelateria Collina Positano Bakery. The offer is varied and inviting, offering both sweet and savoury. Located in the centre of one of Positano’s most characteristic little squares, it was born in 2014 out of Francesca and Luigi’s desire to keep alive the bar run for 30 years by their father, together with their brothers. It is a comfortable place where you can always feel at home and where you can taste delicious delicacies in which every flavour is enhanced and made unforgettable. From classic flavours to daring combinations, their ice cream is a manifesto of creativity and dedication to quality.

Eco del Mare Ice Cream Bar

Finally, we recommend a stop at Bar Gelateria Eco del Mare, a true oasis of pleasure for those who wish to enjoy quality, taste and innovation. It is located in the heart of Vietri sul Mare, a few steps from the beautiful Crestarella beach, and is the ideal place to relax and enjoy a good homemade ice cream. The speciality of the house? The ice cream cups decorated with cream, liqueurs and whole pieces of fruit that accompany cream or fruit ice creams. Special mention for the Costa d’Amalfi cup, made, of course, with lemons typical of the area.
